12. The Everglades

While summer is the high season in Florida, Everglades National Park is the busiest in November, being the best time of the mild season to take long hikes in the park. It is also the ‘off-season’ for mosquitoes!

Take the 15-mile Shark Valley loop trail into the “River of Grass” and have your cameras ready because you will most likely see plenty of alligators enjoying the sun near the loop road.

Find the Gumbo Limbo Trail, crossing a small forest of gumbo limbo trees. The 0.4-mile trail is wheelchair accessible.

Anhinga is another trail (4 miles) starting at the Royal Palm Visitor Center. Here, wildlife roams about, so be prepared!

13. Buena Vista

There may not be enough snow for skiing yet, but you can hike on the Taos ski valley trails, including Columbine Canyon trails, Williams Lake, Gavilan Trail, Italianos Canyon Trail, and Yerba Canyon Trail.

November is a great time to visit some famous New Mexico hot springs hidden in multiple valleys and canyons.

Some of the most notable ones are the Mamby Hot Springs and Black Rock Hot Springs. You will have to hike to these destinations, but you will never regret it.

24. Gulf Shores

November is a great time to visit Gulf Shores as it is oyster season and less crowded than in the summer.

Before you dive into the holiday celebration, take a hike to the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail, with 28 miles of trails within Gulf State Park.

There is no snow in Gulf Shores, but you can still have fun making “snowmen” from sand or sandcastles on Alabama’s white-sand beaches.

There is even a community-wide event called Sandcastle Showdown, where you can build your own castle and compete for a prize.

Remember when we said November was the oyster season? Be sure to check out the annual Oyster Cook-Off and Craft Beer Weekend to enjoy famous chefs, fresh oysters, over 60 craft beers, and live music.

25. Memphis

Kick off the holiday season at Graceland, an enormous mansion and the home of Elvis Presley.
